OFFICIAL HIATUS :-(

Ok, so I thought about it and there’s honestly no way that I can keep up with Spotlight while I’m in Australia. The time difference is too much between here and back in the states, and I’m studying ALL THE TIME it seems lol plus going different places, exploring the area. So I’m too out and about. I tried 😦 I have a few spotlights I promised some folks, as well as a huge music festival coming to Melbourne in about 3 weeks (SupaFest with Snoop, Ciara, T-Pain, Timbaland, Keri Hilson, and more!!!), and I probably will be going to see Chris Brown here on April 23. So I will definitely do those posts. As far as entertainment news, that’s on hold for now. Just until around June-ish, when I’m back in the U.S. of A. Can’t keep doing a bunch of posts one day, and then a bunch of nothing for weeks.

So Spotlight will be back for real for real in JUNE!!!! I’m definitely going to be more focused that ever with this. Gonna see about making some changes…maybe change the layout, bring back the music, etc. etc. Can’t wait to get back to what I love. In the meantime, check out my Aussie adventures at The Melbourne Takeover!

But here’s a post for yall. The newest single from Jazmine Sullivan, “10 Seconds,” released about a day or two ago, but it’s here for those of you who haven’t heard it yet. A song of anger and heartbreak, which I know people can relate to. Jazmine lets out her aggressive side in this song. I’m really excited for her new album Love Me Back, which is set for release on November 2. Her last CD Fearless was great. I think that she’s an amazing singer with a lot of energy, and I’m excited to see what she has for her fans this time around!

Fantasia Overdose: My Take

Good morning people…hope everything is good with you. Half way through this week already!

Ok, so I thought I would give my take on the Fantasia overdose. For those of you who don’t know, Fantasia was hospitalized in North Carolina on Monday after a medication overdose. “She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid,” her manager said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time,” the statement went on. “Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon.”

Now, everyone knows about the love triangle with Fantasia, her lover Antwuan Cook, and Antwuan’s wife Paula. Now Paula is supposed to suing Fantasia (which is apparently legal in their area) and going for custody of the kids, plus child and spousal support from Antwuan. Fantasia says she thought that Antwuan was legally separated. Paula calls her a homewrecker, talking about possible sextapes, la di dah. Real messy situation. And it’s been reported that Fantasia took the medicine in the first place because of all this.

Ok, so first of all, commenting on the homewrecker situation. And this is the same way I feel about the Mashonda-Alicia-Swizzy mess. If a man wants to be free, FREE HIM. That’s just my mentality. If somebody don’t care about me, why am I gonna try to get him to? You can go. If he gonna cheat or leave, then let him go. Whatever. I know it’s hard to let go of someone you deeply love and care about, but if he’s gonna mess around, then what’s the point? Ain’t no need to make a big spectacle of it. Just make sure that the kids are taken care of, and call it a day. No point making a mess even messier. That’s just me.

Second, people are really really insensitive nowadays. It was reported by police to be attempted suicide, but people are already saying she did it just to get attention. I don’t care if she did it on purpose or not. Either way, the woman needs prayer and love sent her way. She’s a human being, just like the rest of us. So I just pray that Fantasia gets better. And that this whole situation blows over soon.

Not really entertainment news, but I thought I would share anyway. Lady finds out about her husband having a second wife ON FACEBOOK! Drama…The husband and second wife denies it, and have taken the lady’s kids away, going for main custody. The first four minutes tell the main story…

Hilary Duff Gets Engaged!

Actress and singer Hilary Duff, known for her long stint as the title character in Disney’s Lizzie McGuire and her recent recurring guest role on the CW’s Gossip Girl, is engaged to NHL forward for the Edmonton Oilers Mike Comrie.

Publicist Nanci Ryder says the two were engaged last weekend while vacationing in Hawaii. She says in an e-mail distributed by the Oilers on Friday that the two “are very excited to share this happy news.” Hilary and Mike have been dating for two years.

Congratulations to Hilary and Mike! I hope that everything works out for you guys.

In The Spotlight Celebrates 6 Months!!!

Ok, this may be seem kind of stupid, and I’m really not the one to celebrate “half anniversaries” like that, but it’s officially been six months since I started In The Spotlight! Six months ago today, I was bored at work, and decided to do something somewhat productive with my time. So I decided to start a blog about entertainment news, celebrities, fashion, music, movies and all. You know, things that I’m really interested in. While it still has a long way to go, I never knew that Spotlight would get to the level it has. More important than the recognition is that this blog gives me the chance to do what I love, TO WRITE! As a budding entertainment journalist, I gotta start somewhere right? And Spotlight gives me that opportunity.

I’m seriously appreciative of all the feedback and all of the support of my followers and faithful readers. I really really could see this blog going somewhere, reaching a national level. Without yall, it would be nothing. So thanks for supporting me, and thanks for supporting the blog!
