“Working with her was utopia,” Shakira said about Rihanna in a recent Glamour interview. “She’s the sexiest woman on the planet. And at the end of the day, we’re both just basically Caribbean girls. The chemistry was so good and so real. She taught me dance moves. She was a sweet teacher.”

I hope that they do a video for this one with a spicy Latin-Carribean feel! Spring isn’t here just yet, but it’s warming up, and I’m ready to party!

Shakira Welcomes Baby Boy with Gerard Piqué

Singer Shakira has delivered a healthy baby boy, her first child with her beau Gerard Piqué, who plays for FC Barcelona.

The couple announced the wonderful news in a statement on Shakira’s website:

“We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born Jan. 22nd at 9:36 p.m. in Barcelona, Spain. The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification. Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.” 

Milan weighed 6 lbs., 6 oz., and the hospital says that both mother and child are in excellent health.  Earlier yesterday, Shakira asked for well wishes from fans on Twitter. “I’d like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life,” she tweeted.

Congrats to the happy couple and their families!

Shakira To Build School in Haiti

Happy Monday, everybody! Hope your week is productive and blessed. Here’s news for today.

Singer Shakira traveled to Haiti this past weekend to meet with child survivors of the Haiti earthquake, as her charity plans to build a school in the country, according to OMG! Yahoo.

Shakira explained that the school would be modeled after establishments created by her Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) Foundation. The foundation charity provides education, nutrition and psychological support to over six thousand Colombian children displaced by violence.

“We need to think about the future of this country and of how Haiti’s children can be useful to their societies tomorrow … Education is one of the fundamental tools with which to develop and rebuild Haiti,” she said.

I think that it’s great that Shakira is using her time and money to reach out to these children. The Haiti earthquake was a huge disaster, leaving 300,000 dead, and over a million homeless, most of them orphans. It definitely shows her compassion. Hopefully, this will be a start of rebuilding Haiti and the lives of those who are still there.
