Brooklyn Street Renamed for Spike Lee’s Classic Film Do The Right Thing

Film director/actor Spike Lee is known for his work inside and outside of the industry. He has given us good films such as Crooklyn,  School Daze, and Do The Right Thing. Within each movie, he always leaves us with a powerful message.

Spike made history in Brooklyn, NY this week, getting a street in the city renamed in honor of Do The Right Thing! The Urban Daily reports Do The Right Thing Way will only exit on Stuyvesent between Quincy Street and Lexington Avenue right where the movie was filmed.

Big ups for to Spike to be another influential black man making a path for young men who may have the same dream as him.

Misty Copeland Covers September Issue of Essence

Misty Copeland has snagged the cover of the September issue of Essence!

The ballerina, who happens to be the first African American ballet dancer to take the lead role in Swan Lake, looks absolutely stunning as she poses on pointe! In addition to that great achievement, Essence also notes that Misty also has a new role on Broadway in the play On The Town, has signed a contract with Under Amour, and is now engaged to her long time boyfriend.

With so many accomplishments at only 32 years old, Misty is having an amazing year. I would say that she deserves it with all the hard work and training she has put in to reach her goals. Goals do not happen without a plan and hard work. Misty gets added to the list of people that young African American girls should look up to or admire.

Kermit The Frog and Miss Piggy Break Up

I’m not the one to take things like this serious but I watched The Muppets when I was little. For years, I was trying to figure out if these two were really together. Well, it’s clear that Miss Piggy and Kermit The Frog were together and they have decided to split! When you see two muppets split, it makes you question love a bit!

According to E! News, Miss Piggy made a “statement” announcing the breakup.

“After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, Kermit the Frog and moi have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship. We will continue to work together on television (The Muppets/Tuesdays 8 p.m, this fall on ABC) and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al.,” she “wrote” on Facebook. “This is our only comment on this private matter…unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding.”

They worked together and were a couple for four decades. I personally am hoping that they reconcile because this is a love that shouldn’t die. Miss Piggy and Mr. Kermit, I hope that you two can look beyond your differences.

Kelly Osbourne Makes Controversial Comment Regarding Latinos on The View

The View’s Rosie Perez and Kelly Osbourne got into a minor heated debate because of a comment Kelly made about Latinos. “If you kick every Latino out of the country, who is going to be cleaning your toilet Donald Trump?” E! News reports. Though Rosie did defend herself, it was clear that Kelly was making a point regarding the malicious things Donald has said about Latinos and immigration.

E! News also reported that that she later apologized stating, “I whole-heartedly f-cked up today. I don’t want to bullsh-t anyone with lame excuses. Although I was stopped mid-sentence by Rosie Perez and couldn’t finish my point, I will not let Rosie take responsibility for my words. I should have known better as it was on The View and it was live”.

Kelly meant well but you always have to think twice before you speak. She stood up as a woman should and was brave enough to apologize for her mistake which really matters.

SPOTTED: That’s So Raven Cast Reunites

That’s So Raven’s cast Raven Symone, Kyle Massey, Orlando Brown and Anneliese van dePorl were spotted downtown in NYC. E News says that Raven Symone posted this picture to the left stating, “Wait till I tell why we were all together.”

There aren’t enough details on whether or not the Disney cast will be making a acomeback but could it be? I remember getting up on sunny Saturday mornings to watch That’s So Raven. I still know every word to the theme song!

I hope this a start of new beginning with them being reunited.  Look out for more information on their upcoming project together.

Empire’s co-stars Grace Gealey and Trai Byers are engaged!

According to E! News, Trai planned the engagement himself. He set it up to where Grace thought they were going to dinner, just the two of them. However, he also gathered a few of her friends and family members to surprise her on the new engagement.

Always good to know that a foundation of love is still being built between two people.

Kandi Burruss Expecting Child with Todd Tucker

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kandi and her husband Todd Tucker are going to be adding a new addition to their family.

The couple told PEOPLE, “We’ve been waiting for this moment.” Kandi also said to the magazine, “I’m ecstatic!” Kandi previously admitted her struggle to conceive on RHOA. Both Todd and Kandi each have one child from previous relationships.

Kandi is recently filming season eight of RHOA and ready to show of her bundle of joy.

I hope these two have a great pregnancy and that everything goes well when the day comes to welcome the new joy into the world!

Tyler Perry to Star Alongside Chloe Grace Moretz in Brain On Fire

Tyler Perry will be starring in a new movie entitled Brain on Fire! 

According to E! News, he movie is based on a memoir by journalist Susannah Cahalan which is titled Brain On Fire: My Month of Madness which was a best seller.

A little background on the movie: The movie/memoir is based on Susannah experiencing an illness that caused her to hear voices, experience paranoia and have violent episodes of lashing out.

Tyler will play the role as an newspaper editor in this new upcoming film. Chloe Grace Moretz stars as Susannah, who works under Tyler’s character at The New York Post. Currently shooting in Canada, the cast also includes Thomas Mann, Jenny Slate, Richard Armitage and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Fantasia and Kendall Taylor Tie the Knot

American Idol winner Fantasia, and her new hubby, Kendall Taylor got married this weekend! As you can see, they look amazing. By the look on Fantasia’s face, you can tell she had an amazing weekend.

Also, from this picture, you can tell that the lovely couple looked gorgeous, especially Fantasia’s dress. She wore an elegant white dress, with lace sleeves displaying flowers, a floral crown to compliment the sleeves and, to top it off, her bouquet shows some elegance with its jewels.

Hopefully, these two will live a “Happily Ever After” life together and build an even stronger bond. Congratulations to the Taylors!!!
